Finally wrapping up an audit I started over a year ago today. Have to drive close to 200 miles today... uggh.... Other than that the last two weeks have been a blur. Gaming, friends moving away and a lot of working. I will try and update my posts today when I get home, just suffice to say I haven't forgotten to post here.

On the whole I enjoy it a lot, it's the waiting for people to get me information that I dislike. I hate feeling unproductive because of something outside of my control.

That is the single most annoying thing. If they would get me the stuff when I need it I could probably cut 30% or more out of our budget to do the audit.

Yep, and even more if my boss wasn't spending most of the spring on vacation. (Fall is our "busy season")

Fall is generally one of the busier seasons due to Federal audits that need to be done. Spring is a bit busier, we have multiple cities that submit for a CAFR letter and the deadline is June 30th. We have to do 5 cities, a mass transit system and a county with a staff of 8 auditors in total and none of them start until end of April/beginning of May. Its always a nightmare, but lots of comp time earned.

We do agencies in the fall and colleges in the spring, you're doing municipal / county's work relative to how we opperate. Though a lot of our muni stuff is outsourced and just over-seen by the state. But I'm vague on the specifics.

We tend to only get comp time in the fall. I don't care for it personally, but hey, it's how things are going to be. If I get enough I'm taking two weeks off.
