Today didn't start well. My laptop starting crashing when I tried to play video games on the mac side. Tried this a few times and then took it down to the Apple Store's Genius Bar. Here is what I found out.

1. My laptop has dual video cards (both are Nvidia, one is a high performance card, one is a slower but more steady).
2. The high performance video card is toast 
3. The low performance video card still works, and can run most things, however it will eventually fail.
4. The power supply mounting is broken (or at least the screw).
5. To fix the laptop's video card, the entire logic board must be replaced, this costs approximately $500 plus tax.
6. To fix the power supply mounting will cost about $60.
7. Good news, Apple has the "depot" where they can send the laptop and it will be refurbished completely for $310 plus tax.
8. The bad news for this, it has to be sent away to the "depot" so I won't have it for 5-7 days.
9. This is all relatively good news as it would cost about $2,200 to replace the laptop.
10. It also means in the future if I get a PC for gaming, I won't feel as guilty.

Unfortunately this means I wont be online a lot (and my next Shadowrun game will be with hardcopies probably, unless laptop gets back in time). I will back things up tonight and go down to the Apple Store and turn it in to be shipped out.

Other than that, the wife and I are watching some Supernatural :)

I have read a little on Apple's unveiling of the Ipad and I still can't tell if it lets you use it as an art tablet. I have a feeling its a no since that wasn't touted. The wife and I were both really hoping it would work like a Wacom tablet. While I love all things Apple, I am not interested in the Ipad unless it can do that, I would rather pay $400 more and get a macbook, or $200 less and get a cheap Wacom tablet. Oh well, time to move on (even though it probably means getting the wife something windows based, Windows 7 sounds ok so maybe it wont make me frustrated as much).
