The last couple of months have been a pile of stressors.

Work: I have been working 11-12 hour days for the last 4 weeks. Well that is a misnomer, I have actually only been working 8-9 hours a day, and I am driving 3-4 hours a day. I have been stuck working up in Oak Harbor (and its about 1.5 hour drive each way barring island traffic). This has resulted in me being crabby and probably not treating [livejournal.com profile] ethicalcannibal as well as I should. I am sorry sweetie, please forgive me.

Surgery: I am undergoing surgery on the 23rd. They are going to do a "modified brostrom procedure". This means they will cut my left ankle (about 10-12 inches long) pull the skin off the ankle (much like deboning a chicken), they will reattach my ligament that is halfway free floating and then send me home after the outpatient surgery. This means I have to take the three weeks off after the surgery. Then I get to hobble around for a couple more months. I am a little nervous, the only other time I have been in full anesthesia was when I had tubes put in my ear at age 10, unfortunately that time I woke up in the middle of surgery (much to the surprise of the doctor and anesthesiologist). So I am a bit worried.

In addition the doctor said it may take 6-12 months before I am in functional enough condition for running around in the woods. This is stressing me out even more. Not that it will really interfere with Dying Light, I can still run plot (although it means I will have to direct more and interact less). The sad part is I really want to play with the wife as a character, and this means at least for 6 months I can't run around (and play my character). The good side is we are going to be in the "down season" for the next 4 and a half months, so it may mean I only miss one event in that matter. Oh, who am I kidding, I am going to be stuck as head of plot either way and not have the chance to play.

The other part of the surgery that is bad is it means I can't drive a clutch for 4-6 weeks, and my car has a manual transmission. This worked out fine as my boss changed the schedule around so I was in town until the end of the year (and therefore can use my truck), but it does mean Io0se out on a couple hundred a month in reimbursement for mileage.

Well, I didn't realize what time it is, we have to head out in a few minutes so I better wrap it up, I will finish this when I get back Sunday.

Be sure to mention that you woke up under your last general. Things have changed in the last 20+ years, but they'd like to know that anyway.

I agree. I'm pretty sensitive to meds. I told the anesthesologist how sick the first surgery made me-enough that my surgeon had orders for a one night stay this time. Whatever he changed was the right amount for me and I was fine. They really like to know the little details. Also the surgery and recovery are totally worth it when it finally dawns on you that [body part] isn't hurting anymore.

Well, I can understand the stress mate - but look at how well things have moved on in your life in the past few years.

I think things are going to keep improving for you - so *try* to stress less & give your lady a big hug. Best destressor I know. :)

Addendum: You mentioned Dying Light. I note that the "Recent News" on your website talks about the August event. You might want to destress a little by updating it. ;)

It would definitely do that, I think part of me has been slacking because I am going to overhaul the site (try and move it to a database/php backend) so I got lazy. I will fix that now :)
