Upcoming Stressors
Oct. 16th, 2009 08:52 amThe last couple of months have been a pile of stressors.
Work: I have been working 11-12 hour days for the last 4 weeks. Well that is a misnomer, I have actually only been working 8-9 hours a day, and I am driving 3-4 hours a day. I have been stuck working up in Oak Harbor (and its about 1.5 hour drive each way barring island traffic). This has resulted in me being crabby and probably not treating
ethicalcannibal as well as I should. I am sorry sweetie, please forgive me.
Surgery: I am undergoing surgery on the 23rd. They are going to do a "modified brostrom procedure". This means they will cut my left ankle (about 10-12 inches long) pull the skin off the ankle (much like deboning a chicken), they will reattach my ligament that is halfway free floating and then send me home after the outpatient surgery. This means I have to take the three weeks off after the surgery. Then I get to hobble around for a couple more months. I am a little nervous, the only other time I have been in full anesthesia was when I had tubes put in my ear at age 10, unfortunately that time I woke up in the middle of surgery (much to the surprise of the doctor and anesthesiologist). So I am a bit worried.
In addition the doctor said it may take 6-12 months before I am in functional enough condition for running around in the woods. This is stressing me out even more. Not that it will really interfere with Dying Light, I can still run plot (although it means I will have to direct more and interact less). The sad part is I really want to play with the wife as a character, and this means at least for 6 months I can't run around (and play my character). The good side is we are going to be in the "down season" for the next 4 and a half months, so it may mean I only miss one event in that matter. Oh, who am I kidding, I am going to be stuck as head of plot either way and not have the chance to play.
The other part of the surgery that is bad is it means I can't drive a clutch for 4-6 weeks, and my car has a manual transmission. This worked out fine as my boss changed the schedule around so I was in town until the end of the year (and therefore can use my truck), but it does mean Io0se out on a couple hundred a month in reimbursement for mileage.
Well, I didn't realize what time it is, we have to head out in a few minutes so I better wrap it up, I will finish this when I get back Sunday.
