Stick to what you ENJOY, and the money will come. Working in positions that do not feel comfortable is a sure-fire way to reduce your happiness AND health.
In your shoes, I would tell people at work, "I am happy right now with auditing. But thank you for the encouragement." And then I would just walk away or change the subject. Frankly, if you choose to apply or not is none of their business.
