We are wrapping up Norwescon today. Unfortunately [livejournal.com profile] imake1tgirl's is too sick to continue. With the drama last week at her work it made her reserves so small that two days was all we could do. I am good with this, next year we should be able to go the full time. I am sad I missed [profile] gelf_girl, [personal profile] yog_sothoth, [livejournal.com profile] mysteries,  and [livejournal.com profile] pandaofdoom. Unfortunately wifey's health is not where we were hoping.

The panels were very good. I was surprised at how much I enjoyed them. Friday we went to the "How to knit Maille" I got to sit with the wife while she made a chainmail dicebag. It was taught by Trogkiller, he was very cool guy and was very helpful. I think the wife was the only one to finish her dicebag (she was the only one to even get close). Yep, proud of her :). We then wandered around a little bit, got some Jack in the Box food, walked through artist alley and then went home. Her strength had left her so we went home, hung out and slept.

Saturday was going to start at 9am with some panels, but the wife wasn't feeling good late at night (due to excitement and Jack in the Box food) so we slept in later. We finally got down a little after eleven and went to two different panels for 18th Century clothing. They were pretty damn cool. I enjoyed learning about costuming and maybe now I will start working on things. I think I would like to learn how to sew.

We went and bought two brass wedding rings from one of the vendors. It is a pretty cool knotwork ring, wife has a matching smaller ring. We realized we were hungry after that and went to eat at an awesome little diner called Dave's Diner. The wife had liver and onions and I had a mushroom burger and clam chowder. It was damn good (and cheaper then any place in Bellingham).

We then went to a panel about historical recreation versus reenactment. While there was only four of us there to attend, it was a very informative session. We then were approached by a man starting up a steampunk LARP. We sat and talked with him about it, and although it sounds really cool, I don't have a feeling it will ever get off the ground. Finally we went to gender roles in sci-fi and fantasy, which was also worth going to.

We had just arrived home, the wife was tired and probably has had enough excitement for the weekend when we get a call from [personal profile] yog_sothoth, who had just arrived. Damn, if we realized when he would be there we would have stayed. Oh well I am going to miss my friends, but there is next year and the wife wont be so sick.

Overall, the panels were good, the costuming was so-so, the stink from con goers wasn't too bad (but it was only Friday night when we left), and the dorks was at an acceptable level (I probably will relate individual encounters at a later time).

We will be going next year I suspect. It was worth it.
